Final Inspection
The Policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
... Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much. But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."

Oh.. you're a Police Officer?? That's cool. I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?" "WHAT DO I MAKE?? I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when someone just tried to hurt you. I make 5 minutes seem like a lifetime when I am fighting a suspect while waiting for back up. I ...make those annoying sirens sound like angels when you need them. I can make you...r children breathe when they stop. I make myself get out of bed at 3am to risk my life to save people I've never met. I make it possible to keep back the chaos everyday. I make going to work for your family's safety a duty that I will die for. I make myself work weekends, holidays, nights, and during natural disasters. Today I might make the ultimate sacrifice to save your life. I make a difference, what do you make?"

My passion is Police work. I love every bit of it. I am the one who gets excited when I see the reds&blues and I want to know whats going down. I currently work as a dispatcher for the Unified Police Department. I will be attending the Police Academy in early 2012.
I have been very blessed to make such amazing friends at my work place. I am able to go to lunch with some of the most brave and incredible individuals I know with on a weekly basis. I dont know what I would do with out the unconditional love & support I have been shown as I have only been apart of the team since September 2010.
I have now been able to go on ride.a.longs as well as have other experiences working in law enforcement & I have no doubt that is definitely what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. Its apart of me & in my blood. Nothing else makes me as happy as just the simplest things this job brings.
